Not only are widgets on Android a key part of the visual language for Google and Material You, user adoption of widgets have seen steady growth over this last year. With the increased usage, we're continuing to find new ways to offer valuable widgets to users.

I currently maintain and evolve the widget design guidelines within Google for Android. This includes collaborations with individual app teams at Google to understand critical user journeys and how to best apply widget design practices to the widget.
